Exogenous Treatments to Enhance Splice-Grafted Watermelon Survival

نویسندگان

چکیده

This study evaluated the use of splice grafting as a propagation strategy for watermelon. In experiment 1, treatments consisted sucrose, antitranspirant A, B, auxin (indole-3-butyric acid (IBA)) at two concentrations (10 and 20 mg·L−1), plus water control. The survival (%) splice-grafted watermelon plants differed due to number days after treatment (p < 0.0001, both). At 21 grafting, treated with sucrose A 10 mg·L−1 had 90% 88% survival, respectively, whereas graft was 18% water. Experiment 2 included three top performing from 1 control treatment, applied both root-intact root-excised rootstocks. There significant difference in root treatments, exogenous all). grafted 11% lower compared plants. Plants 87% 86% 14% survival. external application rootstock seedlings does not appear be cost-effective; however, other products should evaluated.

Grafted Watermelon Root Length Density and Distribution under Different Soil Moisture Treatments

Delineating the depth and extent of the watermelon [Citrullus lanatus (Thumb.) Matsum. & Nak.] root zone assists with proper irrigation management and minimizes nutrient leaching. The objective of this 3-year field study was to measure root distribution and root length density of watermelon (cv. Wrigley) grafted on two different rootstocks (Lagenaria siceraria cv. ‘FR Strong’ and Cucurbita mosc...

Polyethylene glycol-grafted polyethylenimine used to enhance adenovirus gene delivery.

An improved adenoviral-based gene delivery vector was developed by complexing adenovirus (Ad) with a biocompatible, grafted copolymer PEG-g-PEI composed of polyethylene glycol (PEG) and polyethylenimine (PEI). Although an Ad-based gene vector is considered relatively safe, its native tropism, tendency to elicit an immune response, and susceptibility to inactivating antibodies makes the virus le...

Use of Chitosan-PVA Hydrogels with Copper Nanoparticles to Improve the Growth of Grafted Watermelon.

Modern agriculture requires alternative practices that improve crop growth without negatively affecting the environment, as resources such as water and arable land grow scarcer while the human population continues to increase. Grafting is a cultivation technique that allows the plant to be more efficient in its utilization of water and nutrients, while nanoscale material engineering provides th...

Does platelet-rich plasma enhance the survival of grafted fat? An update review.

Autologous fat grafting enables repair and augmentation of soft tissues and is increasingly used in plastic and reconstructive surgery. The main limitation of fat grafting is unpredictable graft resorption. To obviate this disadvantage, several studies have searched for new ways of increasing the viability of the transplanted tissue. One promising approach has been to mix the fat graft with Pla...
